This USB type A male plug is ideal for the dongle type projects that can be plugged directly into the computer's USB port or connected with an USB-A to USB-A cable.  This USB male connector also fits perfectly on perfboards and development boards, but you’ll need to some minor modifications to accommodate the support pins:  a) drill 2 holes for the support posts, b) fold them out of the way, or c) cut them off completely.
